De-mine your ports and we'll let grain trades out, Lavrov tells Ukraine

Russia will let grain trades out if Ukraine de-mines the water around its Black Sea ports, says unfamiliar pastor Sergei Lavrov.



Ukraine is one of the world's biggest exporters of wheat, corn and sunflower oil, yet Russia's intrusion and bar of its ports have stopped quite a bit of that stream, jeopardizing food supplies to many emerging nations.



Yet, large numbers of the ports are vigorously mined. Russia guarantees that Ukraine is liable for mining the waters of the Black Sea off its southern coast. Ukraine expresses the inverse.



There are 22 million tons of grain sitting in storehouses ready to be sent out of Ukraine.



Lavrov, talking close by his Turkish partner, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, in Ankara on Tuesday, said Russia will open grain trade halls, yet this relies upon the Ukrainian side.



"To take care of this issue, Ukraine should de-mine their ports, solely after that can ships travel in the district," he said.
